Five Longstanding Restaurants Draw Local Diners
Several regional eateries draw diners with fried chicken and a distinct local identity. In Dade City, Florida, the Black-owned Steph’s Southern Soul Restaurant is known for its fried chicken, Southern sides and cafeteria-style service, with the pastor-owner’s church next door. A Pennsylvania Dutch buffet also highlights fried chicken alongside roast beef and regional dishes such as brown butter noodles, chicken pot pie and shoofly pie. In Marietta, Georgia, the KFC beneath the longtime Big Chicken landmark combines familiar fast food with a roadside attraction that has been part of the community since 1956.
