Federal Hemp THC Restrictions Threaten Industry Nationwide
A federal change scheduled to take effect Dec. 11 would sharply restrict THC levels in hemp-derived products, potentially removing many drinks, gummies and other products from legal sale. Businesses in states including Minnesota and New Mexico report that uncertainty is already reducing orders and threatening revenue and jobs, though some retailers plan to keep selling under state rules and adjust their operations. A Florida op-ed argues the change would effectively ban much of the hemp beverage market and urges lawmakers to regulate unsafe products and bad actors rather than eliminate legal options for adults. The debate centers on whether tighter safeguards can address concerns about potency, marketing and access by minors without shutting down a fast-growing industry.
