Argentina Survey Tracks Growing Farm Drone Use for Crop Tasks

Agricultural drones are increasingly being used for crop mapping, monitoring and targeted spraying or seeding, complementing traditional crop dusters and ground rigs. Multispectral cameras can reveal crop stress, dry areas and pest pressure, while spray-equipped models allow farmers to select which fields receive treatment by drone. Their effectiveness still depends on weather, equipment and operator skill, and the imagery requires human interpretation; drones are useful tools rather than a complete substitute for field judgment. In Argentina, growers are using drones alongside traditional aviation, and a national survey launched in 2026 aims to establish the first systematic picture of adoption across the country’s agricultural sector.
