Evans Scores 21 as Timberwolves Fall to Bulls

Minnesota rookie Isaiah Evans closed the preseason with a team-high 21 points in a 133-116 loss to the Chicago Bulls, making five of 10 three-point attempts and adding three assists and two rebounds in about 30 minutes. The performance was a sharp turnaround after a difficult Summer League and uneven early preseason shooting, and offered a reminder of the perimeter-scoring ability that made the former Duke guard an appealing second-round pick. With established players resting, Evans had an extended chance to show his catch-and-shoot ability and off-ball movement. Minnesota has a crowded group of guards and wings, so consistent minutes may be difficult for him to earn as a rookie, but his shooting could make him a longer-term contributor.
