Caleb Flynn Sentenced to Life Without Parole
Former “American Idol” contestant and Ohio pastor Caleb Flynn was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the February shooting death of his wife, Ashley, with additional mandatory prison terms for gun specifications. A jury found him guilty of aggravated murder and eight other charges after he shot Ashley twice while she slept and staged their home to suggest a break-in; prosecutors cited messages to his mistress, Alleigha Botner, as evidence of motive and planning. The couple’s two daughters were home during the killing but were unharmed; at sentencing, a statement from one daughter was read aloud, and Flynn wept. Flynn continued to deny killing his wife, apologized to her family for his affair and hurtful comments, and plans to appeal.
