Eight Killed, One Injured in Foshan Factory Fire

Eight people died and one was hurt when fire hit a textile factory in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China, on Sunday afternoon. The blaze started near 3:12 p.m. September 20 inside a two-story brick-and-concrete plant in Changxing Industrial Park, Jun'an Township, Shunde District, a site used for denim washing and further production. It burned across some 200 square meters yet never reached surrounding zones. Responding firefighters and rescue crews contained the fire by 3:45 p.m. and cleared the last visible flames by roughly 4:10 p.m. They evacuated or rescued 63 people from the factory and adjacent spots. Operations to search and rescue wrapped up by the afternoon of September 21, with the sole injured person stable under hospital care. No left-leaning coverage is present. Authorities continue to investigate what caused the fire.
