Creighton edges Iowa State 83-80 after late rally in exhibition
Creighton edged Iowa State 83-80 in an Oct. 18 exhibition at Hilton Coliseum, rallying after the Cyclones cut a 19-point second-half deficit to three and nearly tied the game at the buzzer. The Bluejays shot better from the field and made 14 three-pointers, while Iowa State forced 19 turnovers and turned them into 24 points. The matchup opened the season’s preparations for both teams and marked Alan Huss’s first game as Creighton’s head coach. Iowa State is rebuilding after losing leading scorers Milan Momcilovic and Joshua Jefferson, with veteran guard Tamin Lipsey returning to lead a roster that also includes five transfers; Creighton is likewise replacing key contributors after a 16-18 season. Both teams have additional exhibitions before their regular-season openers.
