Columbus State Creates American Military History Institute
Columbus State University has established the Lt. Gen. Harold and Julia Moore Institute for the Study of the American Military Experience, with approval from the University System of Georgia Board of Regents. The multidisciplinary institute will expand military history teaching and research, preserve historical records, and promote public engagement on the U.S. military’s role in society. Located near Fort Benning, the Army’s Maneuver Center of Excellence, and military museums, the university says the institute will build on its regional connections and serve students, historians, military professionals, and the public. Dr. David Kieran, a Columbus State military history professor, will be the institute’s inaugural director.
