Coherent Expands Pluggable Optical System to Support 25.6 Tbps AI Links
Coherent expanded its Pluggable Optical Line System with a full C-band, high-power variable-gain amplifier in a compact QSFP module designed for 800G ZR/ZR+ optics. The system supports up to 32 DWDM wavelengths and as much as 25.6 Tbps over a single fiber pair across links ranging from 2 kilometers to 200 kilometers. Its plug-and-play design integrates link configuration and laser-safety functions into standard transceiver slots, targeting AI data centers, cloud providers and other high-capacity network operators. Coherent said the systems are already shipping in volume, while its recent quarterly results showed strong revenue growth; however, investors must also weigh the gap between its adjusted and GAAP earnings and whether demand for AI-related optical equipment remains strong through upcoming product cycles.
