Child sex abuse cases reported across three states
Authorities in separate cases in Tennessee, Oregon and Kentucky have arrested or charged several men in connection with alleged sexual abuse involving children. In Blount County, Tennessee, Timothy Wheeler, 63, is accused of repeatedly abusing a girl from ages 6 to 11; he is being held on $1.05 million in bonds, and investigators say more charges could follow. In Portland, former childcare worker Yonathan Ortiz, 20, faces multiple sex-related charges after a child at Childswork Learning Center reported abuse; police say there may be additional victims and are urging concerned parents to speak with their children. In Pulaski County, Kentucky, former Sunrise Children’s Services employee Scott Hughes, 54, faces several sex-offense charges involving a minor and is being held on a $75,000 cash bond.
