Hawaii Motorcycle Crashes Kill One, Seriously Injure Another

A 39-year-old woman was seriously injured Tuesday morning when her motorcycle collided with another vehicle on Kamehameha Highway in Kāneʻohe; she was wearing a helmet and was taken to a hospital, while the cause remains unclear. Separately, a 44-year-old Wailuku man died Sunday night after losing control of his motorcycle on Wailea Alanui Drive and striking a curb. He was ejected and was not wearing a helmet; police suspect speed may have contributed and are investigating whether drugs or alcohol were involved. The fatal crash was Maui County’s 10th traffic death this year, compared with 12 at the same point last year.
