Aura Minerals Secures $200 Million Loan for Growth
Aura Minerals has secured a $200 million syndicated loan at the holding-company level to support supplier payments and prepayments of production and selling costs as it expands across the Americas. The five-year facility, arranged by Citi and Itaú BBA, carries interest at SOFR plus 2.70% and includes a two-year grace period. Aura is targeting annual production of more than 600,000 gold-equivalent ounces, nearly double its recent output, through construction of the Era Dorada project in Guatemala, expansions at its Almas and Borborema mines in Brazil, and improvements across its operating portfolio. Era Dorada is scheduled to take about two years to build, with production expected to begin in the first half of 2028. The company said the financing diversifies its funding sources and preserves financial flexibility, though it did not specify how much of the loan would directly fund expansion projects.
