ASML warns US curbs could spur Chinese rivals
ASML opposes a proposed U.S. congressional measure that would further restrict its sales of deep ultraviolet lithography equipment to China. CFO Roger Dassen warned that the restrictions could backfire by accelerating China’s development of competing domestic technology. ASML says demand in China remains strong, supported by investment in chipmaking capacity, and expects the country to account for about 20% of its sales this year. The company is balancing its commercial interests in China with pressure from U.S. export controls as global semiconductor competition intensifies.
