Altenar seeks EU, UK scrutiny of Sportradar
Altenar says it has asked the European Commission and the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority to intervene, alleging that Sportradar’s exclusive deals to collect and distribute official data from major sports leagues—and provide live betting odds—disadvantage rival suppliers in the sports-betting technology market. Altenar has also asked the CMA for interim measures to restore access to data and odds while the matter is considered. The regulatory status remains unclear: the Commission said it is assessing information, while the CMA has received information but has not opened an investigation; one report said no formal complaint had been received by the Commission. Sportradar called Altenar’s latest move duplicative and an attempt to inflame the news agenda, as the companies’ broader antitrust dispute is also being fought in U.S. court.
