Alaska Airlines Expects FAA to Certify 737 MAX 10 by September 2026

Alaska Airlines expects the FAA to certify Boeing’s largest 737 MAX variant, the MAX 10, by the end of September 2026, with first delivery planned for spring 2027 and passenger service targeted for April to mid-May. The timeline remains conditional: after the aircraft receives approval, Alaska must complete additional certification work for its pilots’ head-up display, which could take several months. Boeing says flight testing is complete and it is working with the FAA on remaining certification requirements, following years of delays. Alaska plans to use the larger narrowbody to add capacity on busy routes and replace or supplement existing aircraft; its order includes 105 MAX 10s, with options for 35 more.
