Alabama awards $167 million contract to replace Tuscaloosa bridges
Alabama has opened the Memorial Parkway overpass at Mastin Lake Road in Huntsville, completing a $34 million project intended to ease congestion and extend uninterrupted travel along the corridor. Separately, the state awarded Scott Bridge Company a $167 million contract to replace Tuscaloosa’s Woolsey Finnell Bridge and the Campus Drive bridge, and widen McFarland Boulevard for about 1.5 miles. The work will add roadway capacity and a shared-use path for pedestrians and cyclists across the Black Warrior River; construction is expected to start in early 2027 and take up to four years, with two lanes in each direction to remain open during construction.
