Cathay Pacific Weighs Order for 50 Widebody Jets

Cathay Pacific is considering ordering up to 50 additional widebody aircraft, with talks with Airbus and Boeing expected to begin in 2027. The potential purchase is aimed at supporting long-term fleet renewal and growth through the 2030s, rather than meeting immediate capacity needs, and the airline has not yet chosen a manufacturer or finalized the order. Separately, Vietnam Airlines is seeking 20 to 25 Airbus A321neo jets to relaunch its low-cost travel venture, while aircraft lessor Aviation Capital Group has placed a firm order for 75 A320neo-family aircraft.
