Survey Finds Holiday Spending Pressure Prompts Family Money Talks
Holiday spending pressure is prompting many Americans to plan candid conversations with family and friends before seasonal plans and gift exchanges are set. A 2025 Credit Karma survey found that 39% feel pushed to spend beyond their means, rising to 50% among Gen Z and millennials; about half said they planned to discuss what they can afford. A behavioral financial advisor recommends framing requests collaboratively, such as proposing a modest gift limit, and considering alternatives like drawing names, homemade gifts, or skipping presents.
