33-Country Survey Finds Negativity Top Travel Red Flag
Travel habits range from regional traditions to choices that can make a trip more tiring or strain relationships. In the South, road trips may include a cooler packed with homemade food and stops to visit relatives, reflecting an emphasis on preparation and family connection. Other common pitfalls include overloading itineraries and choosing destinations for social-media appeal rather than personal needs; slower, more focused trips may better support relaxation. A Booking.com survey found that travel etiquette is also a major source of friction: 94% of U.S. travelers reported at least one flying-related pet peeve, and respondents cited persistent negativity, rude treatment of airport staff, surprise expenses and messiness as irritants. The survey also suggests that people use trips to assess compatibility, with many saying travel experiences have made them reconsider a friendship or relationship.
