Caracas airport reopens at 25% capacity via temporary terminal
x/maiquet-a
— Sep 2, 2026
Venezuela’s Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía has partially resumed commercial flights using a 10,000-square-meter temporary complex to handle about 2,168 passengers daily, with initial operations targeting roughly a quarter of pre-earthquake traffic and plans to reach around 60% by year’s end. The temporary facility was completed in about 35 days and program includes domestic and international flights while permanent facilities are rebuilt.

Going from 25% to 60% capacity by year's end sounds ambitious. Hope they don't cut corners on safety to hit that target.
