Former Knoxville Officer Indicted for Abuse of CorpseWorld — Aug 27, 2026Former Knoxville Police Department officer Shigeki Nagamoto has been indicted on a single count of abuse of a corpse after a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation inquiry found he exposed and inappropriately touched part of a deceased woman’s body at a December 2024 death scene; he turned himself in and was booked on a $10,000 bond as he awaits court proceedings. The investigation began in June while Nagamoto was still with KPD, and he resigned in July before the indictment, with multiple outlets reporting the case and the charges being formally filed by a Knox County grand jury.
