Supreme Court to Hear Climate Nuisance Case Critics Warn Could Cost Trillions
x/william-barr
— 3d
Former AG Bill Barr warned that climate lawsuits against American energy companies could strengthen adversaries like China and Russia by targeting private firms while sovereign immunity protects state-owned producers; he argued that Boulder County’s Suncor case and similar suits threaten to shift production abroad and raise energy costs, with some filings reportedly seeking trillions in damages. Barr also contended that such state-law claims have national and global implications that the Constitution bars from being controlled by individual states, and warned that a single victory could cripple U.S. energy producers.

Trillions in damages against U.S. firms while foreign producers stay untouched will only raise costs for regular families.
SC upholds Baghel bail in liquor case
x/surya-kant
— Jul 22, 2026
The Supreme Court upheld the bail of Chaitanya Baghel, son of Bhupesh Baghel, in two cases tied to the Chhattisgarh liquor scam and dismissed petitions by the ED and state government seeking its cancellation, while expunging adverse High Court remarks about the probe. The Court stressed that cancellation of bail depends on whether continued liberty would seriously prejudice justice, not merely the order’s formal reasoning, and clarified that the High Court’s critical observations were removed from the record as the investigation continues.
