August Short Interest Surges Across Municipal Bond ETFs — Aug 25, 2026August saw pronounced moves in short interest for several municipal bond and Treasury-focused ETFs: Fidelity Systematic Municipal Bond Index ETF (FMUN) surged in short interest, while SPDR SSGA My2028 Municipal Bond ETF (MYMH) posted an even larger spike; by contrast, WisdomTree's 7-10 Year Laddered Treasury Fund (USIN) and WisdomTree High Income Laddered Municipal Fund (WTMY) registered notable declines in short interest. Overall, the month featured extreme shifts in short-seller activity across fixed-income ETFs, with some funds experiencing multi-fold increases and others substantial decreases.
