Visa Mastercard Ant develop shared framework to verify AI agents
x/visa-inc
— Sep 10, 2026
Visa, Mastercard and Ant International are formalizing a Know-Your-Agent interoperability framework to identify and monitor AI agents across card networks and wallets while preserving each network’s own verification processes, aiming to unlock scalable agentic payments projected to reach $3–5 trillion in global commerce by 2030. The debate centers on which party captures value as agent-powered transactions shift away from traditional rails, with pilots and open standards (including Ant’s Model Context Protocol) expanding in Asia and through industry platforms to reduce duplicate identity checks and speed time-to-market.
