— Aug 28, 2026
Walmart has settled a U.S. government lawsuit accusing it of unlawfully dispensing opioids from its pharmacies, with the terms undisclosed and the case dismissed in federal court in Delaware; the Justice Department said the settlement resolves allegations of noncompliance with the Controlled Substances Act. The deal follows Walmart's 2022 $3.1 billion settlement with state and local governments over its role in the opioid crisis, as nationwide overdose deaths from opioid misuse continue to be a central issue and the financial impact remains unclear.
