Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox is a group that takes contemporary music and redoes it in an old-timey way. In celebration of the last week of their 2015 European tour, they recorded a special version of one of their most popular covers. They take Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" and make it sound like the song is from several decades ago.
It starts out with a man on the bass singing, then has another lady take over. Her voice is stunning, and she really transports the song to another era. The other two women also take turns and when they all sing together, it's almost like the Andrews Sisters harmonizing. At one point, there is a four-hand bass solo by two of the members that is absolutely amazing. This group of musicians is very skilled with their instruments and their voices. It is fascinating to see how easily and smoothly they transform modern songs into what sounds like much older classics.
