Man Changes House For Cats

When they bought the house in 1988, Peter Cohen and his housemates found that it came with two outdoor, sort of feral cats. Sadly, both were later hit by cars, and though the second one survived they decided to make her an indoor cat. Everything changed from there.
So that this cat would not feel so alone, they decided to adopt a couple more cats, which led to more and more. All of them are rescues from a variety of shelters. After a certain point they had so many cats that they realized it had become their house, and they were just living there with them.
They built the first catwalk in 1995 and they spread throughout the house from there. For just the walks, Peter estimates he has spent $40,000-50,000. They could have been done for cheaper but he wanted to also make them visually appealing and do different shapes. The house certainly seems like a wonderland for cats, and the humans get to relax with the friendly felines as well. What a great environment for two different species to get along in and enjoy with each other.
