Grandmas around the world are in for a surprise. Babysitting grandchildren reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia in postmenopausal women. The results came after testing 186 postmenopausal women, and proved that babysitting only one day per week will allow the benefits to flow throughout the mind in those ways.
However, babysitting multiple days a week prove to have the opposite results. The over-stimulation of the mind babysitting 5 days a week had grandmothers feeling overextended and in turn impairs the brains natural functions.
CBS This Morning shares these studies which help women to know the amazing benefits of spending time with their little loved ones. The women in the study who tested best displayed the highest score in immediate recall performance. So, all grandma's can know that after a day of chasing the kids around, that they have not only given the kids a wonderful time, or their parents a relaxing afternoon, but that she herself gained many benefits of her own as well. Though the benefits are limited to a single day of the week, it truly gives a chance for that day to be the best of all.
