Garbage Man Helping The Homeless One Day At A Time
Holly Reyes 1/26/2016
Arnold Harvey is a garbage truck driver full time, and saves people's lives on the side. He is not your average garbage man. Running across homeless people time and time again on his trash runs, his heart was broken at the sight of people in need. After seeing a homeless family of four hiding behind a trash bin, he decided it was time to do something about it.
After talking it over with his wife, Arnold decided to put together large gift bags full of food and essentials to give away to people he saw in need on his daily trash route. He figured it was the least he could do. But after his plan succeeded, he started realizing that the need was growing.
Now, he operates by a much larger mission. He has opened up a place for the homeless, low-income, and people who have come to hard times. By donations, he and his wife help around 5,000 people a month by giving away food and clothing and basic needs. Arnold is always on the lookout for people in need and will always be the first to tell them, "Hang in there. It's all going to work out."
