Family Reunites With Missing Son After Seeing Photograph

Nicholas Simmons was reunited with his family after being missing for four days. If it weren't for a photograph taken on the streets of Washington D.C., his story may not have had a happy ending.
The Simmons were extremely worried about their twenty-year-old son Nick - after he disappeared from their home in New York. He had left without telling anyone where he was going, leaving behind his wallet and cell-phone. As it turns out, Nick had headed to Washington D.C. over 400 miles away. There, he was homeless and living on the streets. Although Nick was destined for a difficult road ahead, he instead received a miracle...
One day Nick was laying under a blanket on a street bench, when he was approached by AP Photographer, Jacquelyn Martin. She was taking photos of the homeless in cold weather conditions, asking Nick if he could be one of her subjects. The picture was then published in USA Today, which was seen by the Simmons - who immediately recognized their son. Local police picked Nick up and took him to the hospital where he was reunited with his family. They were grateful to have their son back, believing that it was "God's love and divine intervention" that helped bring him home.
