Baby Elijah was born deaf, so has never experienced a world of sound. In the video, we see what happens when he is given hearing aids, and hears his mother's voice for the first time.
Most babies are familiar with their mother's voice from the time they are in the womb. However, this wasn't the case for 9-week-old Elijah. He was born with severe/profound deafness, and could only hear at 75 decibels in one ear. This means that in all of the time he has spent connecting with his mother, he had never really heard her voice. But that was about to all change...
One day, Elijah was given the opportunity to receive hearing aids. He sits on his mommy's lap as the nurse puts them on his ears. The mom looks at her baby and starts talking to him. Right away, Elijah blinks as he adjusts to the new sounds he is hearing. He stares into his mom's face, making the most adorable expressions. It's easy to tell that he knows that the voice is coming from mommy - and he likes what he hears. How precious!
