Dog’s Best Friend

T.I.G.E.R.S., The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species, is home to more than 100 animals, many of which are rescues. But two animals in particular have started an unlikely and adorable friendship.
Bella, a Labrador retriever, is the close companion of one of the caretakers, Tawny. They do everything together, except when Tawny does tours of the ground. Bella also loves to play in the water, but her pool partner is who really draws attention. Bubbles, the African elephant, is also like Tawny’s big sister, so it’s no wonder Bella and Bubbles get along.
Bubbles has been living there for 30 years, and she and Bella have formed a strong bond over the past 5 years. However, it did take some time to develop, and constant supervision to make sure Bella wasn’t accidentally crushed. Since Tawny would always climb on Bubbles, she would pull Bella up too, so now the dog is used to riding on the elephant, giving them a better sense of closeness. The two have gotten more in tune, so when Bubbles notices Bella is starting to get tired, she will lower herself so the Labrador will have an easier time climbing up. While Bubbles used to need three or four people to keep her entertained during water playtime, now she is content with just Bella. This is especially amazing considering Bubbles’ sad past, after which no one expected her to be able to form such a bond. These two are a wonderful example of friendship between species.
