Soldiers Visit The Hug Lady's Hospital Bedside
FaithTap Staff 11/14/2015
83-year-old Elizabeth Laird is known as the "Hug Lady." Since 2003, she has been providing hugs to soldiers that are going overseas, and also to ones who are coming home from deployment. However, with her recent decline in health, now the soldiers are the ones there to support her.
The "Hug Lady" has spent the last 12 years at the Texas airport showing her respect to the troops. As the men and women leave to get on the airplanes, she is there to show her love and appreciation by giving them a hug. She is also there to provide hugs as they return. Not only is she strong for them, but she also has strength for herself...
For the past 11 years, Elizabeth has been battling breast cancer. While it hasn't kept her from traveling to the airport, just recently she had to enter the hospital. Now that she is the one that needs a "hug," soldiers have been visiting her bedside to provide her with one. In addition, people have donating to her GoFundMe page set up to raise money for her hospital bills.
