It Started As Innocent Game Of Hide-And-Seek, Ended With Unthinkable Consequences

Eric Clapton adored his son Conor - by all accounts, they were two peas in a pod. Even though Eric traveled the world sharing his musical talent with millions, Conor and his favored cherished every second they got to spend together.
Unfortunately, tragedy struck the Clapton family and Conor was ripped away from the world all too soon....
It all began the morning of March 20, 1991. Conor was still overjoyed about having spent the previous day with his father at the circus and was telling his mother, Italian supermodel Lori del Santo, all about their outing.
The pair was getting ready for another fun day in New York City with Eric when Lori jumped into a quick bath to scrub up. The nanny looked after little Conor while his mother primped - it was like any other day!
Conor ran into a room where a custodian was cleaning, and had the main window slid all the way up. The man stopped Conor's nanny to explain the danger and advise that it wasn't a safe place to play.
Lori explained what happened next that dreadful morning.
"In the second she stopped to listen to what he was saying, Conor ran straight through the window. I heard a dreadful scream, but it wasn't Conor. It was the nanny.
I ran into the room shouting more and more hysterically, 'Where's Conor? Where's Conor?'
Then I saw the open window and understood at once. I felt all my strength leave me and I collapsed on the floor."
Conor ran through the open window and plummeted from the 53rd floor in the New York City highrise onto the roof of an adjacent building. An ambulance was called, but there was nothing they could do. Little Conor was pronounced without life on the scene - he was only four years old.
When Eric came upstairs to gather his family, he was shocked to see such chaos - then Lori told him what happened and his "eyes went dark." This was his worst nightmare and there was nothing he could do to make it end.
Eric began to handle Conor's burial proceedings, and then to his funeral to say one last goodbye. Even though there were plenty of friends and family to help support him, Eric couldn't shake the feeling he did something terribly wrong.
"I went to see him again at the funeral home - to say goodbye and to apologize for not being a better father."
Conor's passing was the inspiration behind his emotionally charged, best-selling song, "Tears In Heaven." There's obviously nothing that can bring back their boy, and they know that hole in their heart will never be filled.
Lori explained the crushing sadness of losing a child, something that most of us couldn't even imagine.
"It seemed unreal seeing that little wooden box. People were supportive, but nothing can help. I cried everyday for four year and there's not a day where I don't think, talk to or pray for Conor."
Their experience is something no parent should have to endure.
