There are some things in life that are way too expensive. Take for instance coasters. They're tiny and practical but can be very overpriced. Rather than spending money on purchasing a new set, simply buy some ceramic tile (typically 20 cents per 4x4) from the local hardware store and create your own stylish pieces.
Once the images have been printed using a laser printer trim them to look like polaroids, add a few coats of mod podge and spray them with acrylic finishing spray. These make perfect gifts! Learn exactly how to make them here.
Q-tips and acrylic paint make a fun and very simple design. After decorating each tile coat with several layers of mod podge, glossy clear lacquer spray and then add some felt to the back of the coaster and you've got yourself a party coaster! Learn more details here.
Apply mod podge to a tile and place a scrapbook piece over it to stick. Once it has stuck, continue to apply layers of mod podge over the scrapbook tile piece and allow to dry. Learn more details here.
Highlight some of your favorite states or countries by using different parts of a map to use as coasters. This is a great if you've moved around a lot and want to remember the places where you've been!
