When Kim decided to adopt a cat, she knew it would be a challenge since this cat was without hearing. But her method of training it is certainly unexpected and surprising. She decided to teach her cats sign language when she found out one of them is deaf. Through her training, they have come a long way. Her cats Bambi, Bobcat and Thomacina all understand basic signs that help them communicate better with their owner Kim. When she signs different words like food, handshake, or stay, they understand exactly what they need to do for their treats.
Kim is generous with her cats and reward them with their cat treats when they get their signs correctly. One by one she shakes each of her cats paws by using the sign "handshake" and they all cooperate happily. Though only Bambi is deaf, the other two cats love the attention and love that Kim provides through sign language.
Kim knew that her cats could learn to understand her signs if she just took the time and patience to teach them. Today, it has paid off, and they all sit waiting for Kim to communicate with them. Her cats have all come from different places and backgrounds, but she loves them all equally. Treating them fairly is what Kim does on a daily basis, giving them all a chance to sign with her.
