Daddy Turns His Baby Into "Elf On The Shelf" – Just Wait Until You See Their Antics!
FaithTap Staff 12/20/2015
"Elf on the Shelf" is a fun holiday tradition in households everywhere. While MOST parents enjoy participating in the “magic” of the game - one dad has taken his kids’ experience to a whole new level.
Who's that stranger in my home?
Like many of us, Alan Lawrence (father of six), was surprised to learn that he would have an "Elf on the Shelf" living in his home all season long. As the directions in the book clearly state - one of Santa's helpers is sent to keep track of his children's behavior during the day. Then at night, the little red elf reports back to Santa to deliver his findings. Sometimes though, they can get into mischief around the house...
So, what does this have to do with Alan you may ask? Well, every morning the elf would appear in a new position for his children to discover. And for those of us familiar with the "Elf on the Shelf" program, that can take A LOT creativity!
Fortunately for Alan, who just happens to be an art director, imagination is his middle name! Not only did he decide to give the program a try - he even took the tradition up a notch. Instead of using the stuffed elf, he created his own by turning his 4-month-old son Rockwell into a real-life "Elf on the Shelf" doll. With the help of his wife (and some photo-editing), he then documented the hilarious adventure on his That Dad Blog. Get ready to say, "I wish I would thought of that!"
Let the games begin
The elf in the Lawrence household kept very busy during the evenings. After all, there was too much fun to be had!
Where can I stick these?
Rockwell the elf loves cookies...but not as much as jamming them into the VCR.
His helping hand
We all know that elves are excellent present wrappers. But to Alan's surprise one night, his elf had gotten a tad-bit carried away with the activity.
Elves get hungry too
The family even let the elf enjoy a spaghetti dinner with them. Unfortunately, he couldn't resist throwing noodles at Alan!
Etching a letter to Santa
Apparently they don't serve enough sugar in the Lawrence household. The elf even told Santa about it in his evening report. However, Alan is hopeful that it was just a scare tactic...
A lady's man
Rockwell the "Elf on the Shelf" was far from lonely. In fact, he had quite the social life!
The little comedian
According to Alan, the adorable elf would wake his other son Wil up from his nap by telling "Narwhal jokes."
No privacy what-so-ever
Everywhere Alan would turn, little Rockwell would be there. He even one time scared him in the shower by sneaking up and singing, "Joy to the World."
More bathroom humor
The father-of-six woke up to THESE shenanigans one night. It was turning into a long Christmas season!
There's always time for an "elfie"
After borrowing his cellphone to make an urgent call to Santa - Alan discovered a camera-roll full of selfies (which he called elfies!).
Alan was kind enough to let Rockwell eat breakfast with him. Yet, instead of grabbing a bowl of cereal for himself - the elf insisted on throwing marshmallows. Maybe next time Alan will buy the sugary-brand!
More surprises to come
Alan and his family have enjoyed their holiday season so far, especially with their real-life "Elf on the Shelf" named Rockwell. The clever photos and journal entries have gone viral since they were posted on his That Dad Blog and social media sites. And with the season not quite over...who knows where they will find the mischievous little elf next?
