Amy Wadge met Ed when he was only 17 years old. They were assigned to write songs together during an artistic brainstorming session. The music flowed naturally and so did their friendship. The duo clicked instantly and remained friends for years to come.
"I kept running into the room and saying to my husband Alun, 'Oh my god, this boy is unbelievable," Amy explained to Wales Online. Amy knew that the 17-year-old Ed was going to be a smash hit that first day they started collaborating.
So when Ed heard his longtime friend was struggling financially, he brought her in for another creative session for his forthcoming album. That's when Amy and Ed came up with the lyrics for the mega-hit "Thinking Out Loud."
More than fine
With the royalties Amy earned from "Thinking Out Loud" she was able to pay off her mortgage and help support her two kids.
"It's just been crazy, my life's completely changed."
Amy understands just how valuable the opportunity that Ed extended to her was. "Thinking Out Loud" has earned the pair a double platinum and currently holds the record for the most streamed song in Spotify history.
Ed's kind actions helped bring his friend completely out of financial trouble but didn't just hand over a wad of cash. Instead, he let Amy use her God-given talents to earn her own money. She'll be proud of their work for the rest of her life.
